REPUBLICANS PUT 4 IN HALL OF FAME

Republicans honored some of their own Friday night, starting a Hall of Fame and inducting longtime Republicans Jon M. Huntsman, Wallace F. Bennett, Warren E. Pugh and Douglas Bischoff.

They also gave first lady Colleen Bangerter, wife of Gov. Norm Bangerter, a special recognition award.Bennett was a U.S. senator from 1951 to 1974. Pugh served in the state Senate from 1967 to 1986. He died earlier this year. Huntsman has been one of the party's best fund-raisers. Bischoff served in the state Senate from 1970-77 and was one of Ronald Reagan earliest supporters.

The dinner at the Little America Hotel was also a fund-raiser for the party. Party Chairman Richard Snelgrove said about $30,000 was raised.
