A sharp earthquake rattled western Greece on Saturday, injuring one person, damaging buildings and disrupting electricity and telephone services.

The quake registered 5.1 on the Richter scale and its epicenter was 190 miles northwest of Athens, just offshore from the harbor town of Preveza, a spokesman for the Athens Geodynamic Institute said.A police spokesman in Preveza said a 78-year-old woman was slightly injured in the nearby village of Riza when her house collapsed.

The spokesman said another seven houses in the region collapsed and 360 were slightly damaged.
