DOING UTAH JUSTICE PROJECT GATHERS DATA FOR CHARTING FUTURE OF THE COURT SYSTEM

Editor's note: The Doing Utah Justice project is a commitment shared by Utah's judiciary, the Deseret News, KSL-TV and KSL-Radio to involve Utahns in deciding the future of their justice system.

The Commission of Justice in the 21st Century, composed of leaders representing the state's diversity, will forge policies based on information gathered through polls and statewide town meetings. In a poll of 612 randomly chosen Utahns conducted by Dan Jones and Associates, Utahns were asked their views of the courts. This is the first of a five-part series on the results of that poll.

Reporter Jan Thompson is on leave of absence from the Deseret News to cover the Utah project.
