Restrictions and closures of some federal lands in Wayne and Garfield counties are outlined in a proposed management plan for the Henry Mountain Resource Area of the Bureau of Land Management.
All public lands in the area will be designated as either open, closed or limited to off-road vehicle use. Some 67 percent, or 940,000 acres, will remain open to ORV use. About 22 percent, including 315,000 acres, will be managed with limited restrictions. Closure orders will be issued on 11 percent of the land in the resource area, about 158,000 acres.
BLM officials, who want to identify special site-specific problems or conflicts, invite public comment or questions at the resource office in Hanksville on weekdays from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
