A $100,000 grant has been given to Utah's Hogle Zoo by the George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Foundation.

The money will be used for "the desert," the fifth and final phase in Discovery Land, located at the east end of the zoo.The Eccles donation is a matching grant, which will be matched dollar for dollar by other contributions for a total of $100,000. The zoo is actively seeking private donations to meet the match requirement, said zoo Director LaMar Farnsworth.

Featuring a dry creek bed, an oasis and spring, the desert phase will be the largest exhibit in Discovery Land.
