Two new items designed to make the Church's hymns more accessible to all Latter-day Saints are now available, according to Michael F. Moody, chairman of the General Church Music Committee.
Selected Hymns in the form of a booklet and a set of six audiocassettes can be obtained through Church distribution centers. The booklet and audiocassettes present 60 standard hymns and will be useful in Church meetings where the full hymnbook is impractical, Brother Moody noted.
The audiocassettes contain only music without vocal parts. They are designed to accompany hymn singing and are also useful for listening and background music, he added.
Selected Hymns will serve as a prototype for translations into other languages. The translations will be useful in areas where the Church is developing and trained music personnel are scarce, according to Brother Moody.
