U. ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR GETS FULBRIGHT GRANT

Dean L. May, University of Utah associate professor of history, has been awarded a Senior Fulbright Lectureship grant to teach in Germany in the summer of 1991.

May will teach American history and culture to help launch the University of Bonn's new North American studies center. Students in the class will be graduate level and English speaking, specializing in North American studies."It's important for faculty to teach out of the country," says May. "I'll bring back the viewpoint of European students to share with U. of U. faculty and students. Fresh ideas broaden and enrich lectures and research."

May has published extensively on the social history of the American West and is chairman of the Utah Board of State History.

His video series, "A People's History of Utah," has been shown on public television in Utah and neighboring states.
