YOUNG VICTIMS OF CHERNOBYL TAKE VACATIONS

Children from the Chernobyl nuclear disaster area are getting monthlong summer vacations in 15 West European countries as guests of the Boy Scouts and Girl Guides, the World Scout Bureau said Thursday.

The Soviet Union asked the Scouts to find host families for the 1,235 young people, aged 13 to 15, who were selected by the Soviet Fund for Children.Children from areas that received the most radiation in the 1986 disaster were given priority in the program, as were abandoned children and those from large families.
