Deseret Village, the only privately funded, non-profit facility in the state to assist in providing a better quality of life for mentally handicapped men and women, will hold an open house on Saturday, June 23, from 1-6 p.m.
The village consists of separate male and female residences and provides neurological and educational stimulation, helping the residents to become self-sufficient and contributing members of society.Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the premises and learn of the programs under way to help the residents become involved in projects to improve their community.
The organization of Utah-California Women has adopted Deseret Village as its philanthropy, and some of the group's officers will attend the open house to make a presentation of this year's contribution to the village.
Deseret Village is located in Spanish Fork at 511 W. 1900 North. (Take Spanish Fork exit No. 260 from I-15 and follow signs leading to the village.)
