A newly formed Polish group of civic, scientific and cultural leaders declared its support Saturday for Solidarity founder Lech Walesa to replace Gen. Wojciech Jaruzelski as president this fall.

The meeting of the 400-member group called Center Agreement was the latest and most graphic indication of the growing split between Walesa and his former top advisers - now all in the government or Parliament - over the pace of political reform in Poland. The group endorsed a seven-point declaration that proposed "radical personnel changes" in the composition of the Solidarity-led government of Prime Minister Tadeusz Mazowiecki and new elections to Parliament, whose members were elected in the partially free elections of June 1989.
