A gun-wielding man who held officers at bay for nearly two hours when they tried to arrest him will appear in 6th District Court, Tuesday, June 25, for preliminary hearing.

Dan M. Muir, 33, of Elsinore, Sevier County, is being held in the Sevier County Jail in Richfield in lieu of $100,000 bail, charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault.He was subdued and arrested at his home after brandishing a shotgun and resisting officers' efforts to arrest him. Sevier County sheriff's deputies reported that Muir had been holding his wife in the house against her will, was under the influence of alcohol and was "extremely distraught."

Officers went to 55 South 100 West in Elsinore after receiving an anonymous telephone call reporting an apparent altercation at the residence.
