CRUISE SHIP NORWAY GETS A FACELIFT

The 1,035-foot Norway, the Caribbean cruise ship described by its owners, Norwegian Cruise Line, as the longest passenger ship ever built, is to undergo a major refitting. The former trans-Atlantic liner was renovated in West Germany 11 years ago when her name was changed from the France to the Norway.

In August she returns to the same shipyard for seven weeks for a $40 million renovation that will add two glass-enclosed decks with 135 cabins, a supper club, a spa and expanded public areas. The Norway will then be able to carry 2,044 passengers.
