An FBI agent who happened upon a bank robbery was shot and killed as he tried to arrest the robber. A 27-year-old man was arrested several hours later on a murder warrant.
The robbery was in progress at a Security Pacific Bank branch several blocks east of the Las Vegas Strip on Monday when agent John Bailey, 47, arrived to serve a subpoena, police said.The agent drew his gun and ordered the robber to halt, said Metropolitan Police Deputy Chief John Sullivan. When the man displayed a gun, Bailey fired a shot, but it missed. The man then knocked Bailey against a wall and shot him several times, he said.
