WIND CAUSES HEAD-ON CRASH NEAR LEVAN, KILLING OREM MAN

An Orem man died Monday afternoon when wind caused the 22-foot travel trailer he was towing to fishtail and he crashed head-on into a bread delivery truck.

Killed in the accident was:LaVell Christensen, 77, Orem.

Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Steve Pelton said Christensen's wife, Sybil, 73, was riding in a bed in a camper shell on the back of the pickup. She was trapped until rescue workers could move the trailer, which had crashed into the back of the camper.

She was taken by ambulance to Central Valley Medical Center in Nephi and was later transferred to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, where she was treated and released.

The driver of the bread truck, Jack Molyneaux, 32, Mona, was taken by ambulance to Central Valley Medical Center with minor injuries.

Pelton said the accident occurred about 2:25 p.m. on the old so-called "death strip" eight miles south of Levan on U.S. 28.
