James Word, Highland High School, has produced a prize-winning public service announcement on drugs. The student created "Don't Start," a 30-second ad that shows how drugs cause lives to deteriorate and how they control minds and break ambitions.
The National Parent-Teacher Association sponsored the contest for high school students throughout the country. The theme of the campaign was "Steer Clear of Alcohol and Other Drugs." Winners in several categories won $1,000 for themselves, $500 for their schools and $500 for their local PTA units to bolster the fight against drug abuse.
