A University of Utah education professor will help restructure the administration of the higher-education system in the Bahamas.
L. Jackson Newell will be part of a team that will spend 12 weeks in Nassau over two years. The team also includes Harold Silver of Oxford University and S.V. Martorana of Pennsylvania State University. The team will study Bahamian education and society, recommending changes in administrative structure, teaching and curricula.The country of 23,500 has five small colleges.
Newell said recommendations probably will lead to the country's first university.
