Dan Rather managed to work in a plug for second-ranked "The CBS Evening News" during an interview on "The Arsenio Hall Show." Hall was asking the anchorman how he felt about rap music and the 2 Live Crew obscenity flap, and Rather said he supported the public's right to buy any kind of music. "I'm a strong believer in the First Amendment and I think there's a right to purchase," he said. "I have the right not to listen to whatever I want. Also, we hope rappers will watch `The Evening News.' Some rappers might have a Nielsen box."
