Raisa and Pres. Mikhail Gorbachev chat with 11-year-old Brandon Peterson of Minneapolis outside the governor's mansion during a tour of the Twin Cities on Sunday. Shouts of "Gorby! Gorby!" helped lure Gorbachev away from his official escorts and onto Minnesota streets during the tour, as the Soviet president lived up to his reputation for spontaneously wading into crowds. "Thank you all for your feelings," Gorbachev said through an interpreter. "I wish happiness and well-being to the people of Minnesota." When the Gorbachevs first emerged from their limousine near the governor's mansion, they approached about 200 protesters but did not talk to them. The protesters flew flags of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.
