More than 400 Utah Valley Community College students protested the defeat of football at UVCC by holding a "Burn the Regents" bonfire rally and dance Friday night.
Student body President Deryn Young said the rally was held to protest the State Board of Regents decision not to allow UVCC to proceed with football. He said the students were especially demonstrating to local regents Aileen Clyde and Paul Rogers that there is student support for football."I think this many students showing up to protest the defeat of a program that we we're willing to support and pay for shows that the regents are not talking to the people they are representing," Young said.
The students tossed dummies representing Clyde and Rogers onto the fire and chanted "We want football!" Young said the students will not give up the fight to bring football to UVCC.
