Carole Mikita, arts specialist and weekend co-anchor at KSL-TV, was recently selected Community Woman of the Year by the Olympus Chapter, American Business Women's Association.

Selected from among three finalists, she was chosen for the honor for her business, community and family accomplishments. Businesses and other employers submitted names of nominees for the honor.Mikita was presented with a plaque and a year's membership in the chapter, chartered 25 years ago.

Mikita received a bachelor of arts in theater and did graduate work in communications at Ohio State University before beginning work in broadcasting in Pittsburgh, Pa. She was hired as an arts specialist at KSL-TV in 1979 and has covered Pioneer Memorial Theater, the Utah Symphony, Ballet West, the Utah Opera Company and other performing groups.

She has done charitable work for the Primary Children's Medical Center and other groups and frequently fills teaching and speaking engagements. She is active in her church. She and her husband, Neil York, a Brigham Young University professor, are parents of two children.
