It is time again to sign up for the annual Freedom Festival Baby Contest.
Scheduled June 27 at the Provo Oak Hills LDS Stake Center, 1600 N. 900 East, the contest runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and culminates in an awards ceremony at 7 p.m.Parents can pre-register by printing the child's name, sex, birthdate, age (months at the time of the contest), parents' name, address and phone number on a 3-inch by 5-inch card and sending it to Baby Contest, P.O. Box 50581, Provo, UT 84603. The registration fee is $5.50 and should be included. No refunds will be given. Entries must be postmarked no later than June 21.
Late registrations will be taken up to 30 minutes prior to each category competition on June 27; the fee for late registrations is $8.
The contest will honor the Freedom Festival theme, "Unite the World in Freedom," with an international flavor in the following novelty categories: All American, Native American, Polynesian, European, Asian and Middle Eastern/African.
In addition, seven different age groups, from birth through 42 months, are open for first, second and third place winners for each sex. First place winners plus the novelty winners will be featured in the July Fourth Grand Parade.
Judging times for the various age groups will be: 12-14 months, 8:30-9 a.m.; 10-11 months, 9:30-10 a.m.; 6-9 months, 10:30-11 a.m.; 0-5 months, 11:30 a.m.-noon; 29-42 months, 1-1:30 p.m.; 22-28 months, 2-2:30 p.m.; 15-21 months, 3-3:30 p.m.
