A man with a gun held up a convenience store over the weekend and fired a shot at the store's safe.

Salt Lake County deputy sheriffs say a gunman entered 7-Eleven, 2703 S. 8400 West, about 4:30 a.m. Saturday, and approached a female clerk. After she said, "Good morning," he pulled a ski mask out of his pocket, pulled it over his head and then produced a silver-colored handgun from the front of his pants. The man demanded money and became angry at the small amount of cash that was in the drawers, according to a sheriff's report. The clerk managed to flee into the manager's office and shut the door when the gunman fired a shot and then fled.

Detectives removed a bullet fragment from the time lock device of the store's drop safe.
