A logistical nightmare of getting seven separate contracts approved by 14 different attorneys has been the reason that there is still no lease agreement signed between Larry Miller and the Salt Lake City Redevelopment Agency, officials say.
RDA interim Director Richard Turpin said Tuesday afternoon that there are no "substantive issues" standing in the way of the agreements, just the logistics of getting all parties in the complex deal to agree and sign all of the paperwork. He said that all the documents could be ready for Mayor Palmer DePaulis' signature by Thursday.Miller, owner of the Utah Jazz, is waiting for the agreements before he can get a $66 million loan from a Japanese bank to start construction on a new sports and entertainment arena in the west downtown area. Miller is facing a tight construction deadline to complete the arena by October 1991.
