Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, has received the American Academy of Pediatrics' "Excellence in Public Service Award," which annually recognizes individuals in public service whose efforts have enhanced the health and welfare of American children.

Hatch , a ranking minority member of the Senate Labor and Human Resources Committee, has played a crucial role in building bipartisan compromises to further child health initiatives including the Act for Better Child Care which will ensure safe out-of-home care for children, according to the organization.The American Academy of Pediatrics is an organization of 39,000 pediatricians.
