An Ogden communitywide committee is preparing a bid to bring the College National Finals Rodeo for 1992-94 to Weber County's Golden Spike Arena.
Roy C. Nelson, an Ogden banker and a member of the Weber State College Foundation board of directors, will head an Ogden delegation that will present the first phase of its bid June 14 at a meeting of the Ntaional Intercollegiate Rodeo Association selection committee in Bozeman, Mont., during this year's College National Finals Rodeo.Cindy Williams, director of event for the Golden Spike Arena, says the six-day event would bring to Ogden about 1,400 rodeo contestants and support personnel from more than 70 colleges and universities. Attendance at the last two rodeos held in Bozeman has averages more than 23,300. The rodeo is televised by ESPN. By the time the target date comes up, Canadian schools are also expected to join the competition.
