Our mom and grandma, Odessa Matthews Severson, 72, died June 2, 1990, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born April 19, 1918, Lehi, Utah, the daughter of Daniel Eli and Lydia Hetty Henson Matthews. In June, 1943, she married Jack Norman Severson, in San Diego, California. He died in April, 1968. Member L.D.S. Church. Odessa lived in the Southern Utah area most of her life and with her husband, operated the family business, the Mohawk Cafe and Grocery Store (Virgin, Utah). We called her `Queenie'. She was a helluva woman! Survived by daughter, Jackie (husband, Paul) Hadley, Salt Lake City; six grandchildren, Jak, Brandi and Missy Severson and Daniel, Patrick and Sean Hadley; a sister, Ruby Huntsman, Pleasant Grove; a brother, George Matthews, Hurricane; and a very special friend, Sandy Smith. Graveside services will be Saturday, June 9th, 1:00 p.m. in the Virgin Cemetery, 75 South Mill Street, Virgin, Utah. Funeral Directors: the Holbrook Funeral Chapel (Salt Lake City).
