Anyone wanting to take the Internal Revenue Service special enrollment examination must have their applications postmarked no later than July 30, according to agency officials.
This annual two-day examination is generally for people who are tax preparers and wish to qualify to represent their clients before the IRS on tax return examinations and similar tax matters. For the first time this year, the examination will include questions on IRS collection procedures.The examination will be held Sept. 24-25 in the IRS district office, 465 E. 400 South. The application is $50 for those taking all parts and $40 for those who passed a portion last year and are taking the remainder this year.
