Trapper starter Gene Mirabella was followed by four relief pitchers, but Salt Lake hung on through the chaos of two late three-run innings by the new Gate City Pioneers of the Pioneer League.
The Trappers took a 7-6 victory after leading 7-0 in the top of the sixth inning Saturday night. The hard-throwing Mirabella posted his second victory against two losses, but Gate City chased him in the sixth with the first of its two three-score innings.The victory moved the Trappers to 6-4.
They play Gate City again today before taking a travel day Monday and then starting a seven-game homestand Tuesday in Derks Field against league-leading defending champion Great Falls.
