SHARE WOODRUFF RANCHER WINS TAKE PRIDE AWARD

Gregg Simonds, general manager of the Deseret Land and Livestock Ranch, Woodruff, Rich County, is among the nation's top winners in the fourth annual Take Pride in America National Awards Program.

Secretary of the Interior Manuel Lujan Jr., in announcing the award, said Simonds and the other 88 winners were selected by a blue ribbon panel, which included first lady Barbara Bush.Lujan said the winners "exhibit the shining qualities of get up and go and responsibility for the common good that have made America great."

Simonds, the only rancher among the award winners this year, was selected for his work in private lands management on the Deseret Ranch and the effect his actions have had in improving surrounding public lands.
