A natural gas field-extension well drilled southwest of Rawlins, Wyo., has tested at a rate of 7.6 million cubic feet per day, Questar Corp. spokeswoman Susan Glasmann said Friday.

The 12,797-foot test well, just north of the Colorado state line, initially tested at 1 million cubic feet of gas per day, Glasmann said. The figure was revised, however, after stimulation of the well between 12,250 and 12,269 feet. Questar is based in Salt Lake City.Stimulation involves fracturing the gas-bearing rock surrounding the well by injecting fluids under extremely high pressure, she said.

The test well is one mile east of the Dripping Rock field-discovery well drilled by Union Pacific Resources Co., under an agreement with Celsius.
