Betty June Hayes Heward, 65, of Boise, Idaho, formerly of Salt Lake City, died of a cerebral hemorrhage, July 8, 1990, in a Boise hospital.

Funeral Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Goddard Chapel, in Boise, Wednesday 10 a.m. under the direction of the Relyea Funeral Chapel. Family will greet friends at 9 a.m. in the Relief Society Room. Funeral Services will also be held in Salt Lake City, at the Seventh Ward Salt Lake Grant Stake Chapel, Thursday, July 12, 12 noon. There will be a viewing one hour prior to viewing time. Burial: Elysian Burial Gardens.Betty was the daughter of Jennie June Newman and Daniel L. Hayes, who preceded her in death, as did one son, Roland Heward, and a grandson, Shane Ian Mobley.

Survivors include her husband, Alfred Heward; son, Lee Heward, Salt Lake City; daughter and son-in-law, Shauna and John Ferrando, Williams, Oregon; eight grandchildren, Brandi, Ali, Sundi, Gage, Lacey and Bree Heward, Jagger and Keegan Ferrando. Betty leaves behind an only sister, Nina L. Callister and a brother-in-law, Marion J. Callister, of Boise.

Betty was born in Bluff, Utah, September 1, 1924. She attended schools in Prescott, Arizona and Brigham Young University. She married Alfred Heward in the Mesa, Arizona LDS Temple, May 21, 1946. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was a faithful member of her church, serving in every auxiliary as a leader and teacher. She served as Relief Society President, stake missionary and full time missionary with her husband. Betty was a genealogist, organizer and an immaculate housekeeper. Her home was always open to others. She played the piano and organ, and enjoyed teaching and accompanying her grandchildren as they sang. She was a loving and supporting aunt to her sisters children, as well as to her husbands nieces and nephews. She was an excellent secretary and bookkeeper, who organized her husbands cement business in Salt Lake City.
