Race headquarters at the Deseret News, 30 E. 100 South, will be open Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for runners to sign up for the July 24 marathon and 10K.
Office hours are being extended to Saturday to accept entry forms for this year's combined racing event sponsored by the Deseret News and KSL Radio. Regular office hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.Deadline to register at the regular fee of $10 is Friday and then the fee increases to $13 until July 20. Due to the large number of runners expected for this year's event, no registration will be accepted after July 20.
More than $35,000 in prizes, including two 1990 Ford Escorts and two trips for two to Hawaii, will be awarded in the two races. Cash awards also will be distributed among top runners.
The 26.2-mile marathon starts at 5:15 a.m. at Washington Park in Parleys Canyon and the 10K (6.2 miles) begins at 6:15 a.m. at Research Park on the University of Utah campus. Both races end at Liberty Park on 900 South at about 650 East.
