Mary Armstrong Eakins, age 91, died July 10, 1990.

Born August 28, 1898 in Almy, Wyoming to Dave and Mary Moon Armstrong. Married James Flemings Eakins, December 1919 in Diamondville, Wyoming. He died October 1959. School teacher in Wyoming in her younger years. She was past president of Gold Star Mothers and the Union Pacific Old-Timers Auxillary where she was captain of the drill team. Volunteer for Veterans Hospital. Known as the Candy Lady in the 17th LDS Ward.Survived by three sisters, Rachel A. Kirkwood, Diamondville, Wyoming; Grace A. Beachler, Kemmerer, Wyoming; Dorothy A. Welch, Salt Lake City; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by a son, James T. Eakins, Jr., a Navy pilot killed in World War II, also by two sisters, three brothers.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, 12 noon, July 14, 1990, in the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 So. Highland Drive, where friends may call Friday, 6-8 p.m., and Saturday, one hour prior to services. Interment Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
