Helen Mar Lyman, age 56, died July 11, 1990, at her home in Salt Lake City, of cancer.

Born March 16, 1934, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Leon M. and Mabel J. Holmgren Strong. Married George E. Lyman, December 30, 1952, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many capacities including Ward Young Women's President, Ward Relief Society President and President of the Mt. Olympus Relief Society.

She was an accomplished pianist and taught piano all of her adult life. She is loved by the many former students who learned to play the piano from her instruction. She served many church organizations as a pianist and organist.

She was active as a community volunteer. She served as a voting registrar and election judge, and was active in the P.T.A. She served for several years on the Board of the Utah Symphony Guild and was Executive-Vice President of the Guild and a member of the Board of Directors of the Utah Symphony at the time of her illness.

Survived by her husband; children, George Randall (Randy) and Patricia Lyman, Arvada, Colorado; Marshall Strong and Carol Lyman, Delta, Utah; Kathleen Ekins, Patrece and Michael Buie, Jennifer and Dale Pascoe, Jordan B. and Wendy Lyman and Jason B. Lyman, all of Salt Lake City; 13 grandchildren; brother and sister and spouses, Kline D. and Suzanne Strong, Salt Lake City; Loralie and Paul R. Stowell, Logan, Utah; mother-in-law, Angie F. Lyman, Rexburg, Idaho, who has been like a real mother to her. Preceded in death by her parents and brother, Grant H. Strong.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, 12 noon, July 16, at the Mt. Olympus Stake Center, 3862 Oakview Drive. The family will be receiving friends at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive, Sunday, July 15, 6:30-8:30 p.m., and 10:45-11:45 a.m. on the day of the funeral at the Stake Center. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
