Gladys May Smith Vignetto, age 91, died July 12, 1990 in a Ferron nursing home.

Born September 26, 1898, Brown County, South Dakota, daughter of Charles Layton and Mary Ester Williams Smith. Married Jack Vignetto, September 4, 1920, Price, Utah. He died August 3, 1941. Member of the Methodist Church. Graduate of Ferris Institute, Grand Rapids, Michigan with a degree in music and education. Organist, Mara Vista Chapter of Eastern Star, Long Beach, California; organist, Naomi Chapter #13, OES of Price, member of the Daughters of the Nile. First music teacher in Carbon School District at Helper in 1919. She and her husband, Jack, played for the silent movies prior to building the Rainbow Gardens Dance Hall in Helper. Music was the love of her life and she enjoyed the thrills of baseball via television with great enthusiasm.Survived by one son, one daughter and their spouses, Jack and Athena Vignetto, Price; Jill and Robert Crofoot, Reno, Nevada; grandchildren, Danelle Bean Schiller, Park City, Utah; Heidi Melini Soper, Reno, Nevada; Melody Lockhart, Maui, Hawaii; Robert Crofoot, Germany; great-grandson, Darren Bean, Park City.

Funeral services Monday, 3 p.m., Mitchell Chapel, where friends may call Sunday and Monday prior to services. Family will be at Mitchell's Monday one hour prior to services. Interment: Mountain View Cemetery, Helper. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to United Methodist Church, Price, Utah, 84501.
