A 2-year-old Ohio boy, missing 18 hours in heavy timber country in a steady rain, was found safe and apparently unharmed Friday afternoon, the Fremont County sheriff's office said.

Joshua Lewis Kern, son of Richard and Jackie Kern, Xenia, Ohio, was discovered missing Thursday night during a family reunion at Harriman State Park in eastern Idaho. Up to 150 people joined in a massive search that at times included helicopters, airplanes, horseback teams, tracking dogs and boats. The sheriff's office said a woodcutter heard a whimper Friday afternoon and spotted the boy curled up in deep grass, in an area that had been searched before.

"It was just a miracle," said Fremont dispatcher Marge Garrett.
