Ruth Elaine Turner, 67, passed away Sunday, July 15, 1990 at Humana Hospital Davis North in Layton.
She was born July 28, 1922, in Kaysville, Utah, a daughter of Walter Scott and Mabel Ella Holt Turner. She was a lifelong resident of Kaysville, graduating from Davis High School. She received her BS from Weber State College and her Masters of Library Science from BYU. She was a member of the Kaysville 7th LDS Ward. She was associate professor of Library Science at Weber State College, retiring in 1988. She was active in the Utah Library Association (ULA) and the National Library Association (NLA), and worked in collections and in government documents. Was head of the government documents area at Weber State College Library. She was also active on many committees at Weber State College. She was past president of the Athena Club of Kaysville, and current president of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), Kaysville chapter, and on the board of the Utah Musical Theatre at Weber State College. She had a great love of travel and gardening.Surviving are one sister, Marjorie Turner; nephew, S. Clark and wife, Julia Smith, all of Salt Lake City; niece, Carol Tyndall and husband, James, Sandy; three grandnieces and six grandnephews. She was preceded in death by parents, sister, Genevieve Turner Smith, brother, Preston Holt Turner.
Services will be Thursday, 11 a.m., Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main, where friends may call Wednesday 7-8 p.m. and Thursday 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment: Farmington City Cemetery.
