SHARE STATE DIRECTOR IS ELECTED CHIEF OF PURCHASING ASSOCIATION

Douglas G. Richins, state purchasing director, has been elected president of the National Association of Purchasing Management-Utah Inc., for 1990-91.

A Kaysville native and graduate of Weber State College, Richins has been state purchasing director for five years. Previously he was purchasing director for the Davis County School District.Other officers are William Palmer, purchasing manager for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, vice president; Alfred Johansen, a buyer for Salt Lake County Contracts and Procurement, secretary; and Richard L. Chamberlain, director of Salt Lake County Contracts and Procurement, treasurer.

Elected to the board of directors were Kaye Moore, purchasing agent for Mountain Fuel Supply Co.; J. Guy Johnson, purchasing agent for C.R. England & Sons; Jacques F. Pruhs, senior purchasing agent for the LDS Church; Randy Wells, buyer for Salt Lake County; and James Parker, director of purchasing and stores for the University of Utah.

Other officers are Douglas E. Matheson, a buyer for Evans and Sutherland, Professional Development Committee chairman; Orson H. Dietz, purchasing supervisor for Teleflex Defense Systems, Membership Committee chairman; and Dallas R. Froisland, purchasing coordinator for the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, Public Relations Committee chairman.

Helen B. McCausland, senior purchasing agent for the LDS Church, was elected director of national affairs for the chapter and will be responsible for all liaison with the national organization, headquartered in Tempe, Ariz.

At the same meeting, Ray J. Larsen, director of material acquisitions for Utah State University, received the Gordan Burt Affleck Award for purchasing management.
