SIDCO, a Utah corporation owned by James Sorenson, has purchased two parcels of industrial land on Salt Lake's west side, totaling 262 acres. The terms of the acquisition from Union Pacific Realty Corp. were not disclosed.

According to the SIDCO spokesman Clyde Smith, the transaction included 92 acres at California Avenue and Gladiola Street, just south of 900 South. He said SIDCO has no immediate plans for development of the property but intends to sell large plots of land to other developers and industrial users. The acreage allows the company to market raw ground in sizeable increments that are not readily available in the Salt Lake area under current market conditions, he said.

Sorenson is active in commercial and residential real estate development in Utah, including Sorenson Research Park, Arrow Press Square and the Commercial Club building. He is presently involved in development of the 120-unit Sugarplum residential community at Snowbird.
