SHARE ENERGY CONFERENCE SET FOR SEPT. 7

The 14th annual Utah Conference on Energy, Mining and New Technology, sponsored by the Utah Engineering Experiment Station and the Mountain West Venture Group, will be held Friday, Sept. 7, at the A. Ray Olpin Union Building at the University of Utah.

Conference sessions include workshops on the future of fossil fuels in a greenhouse climate, trade opportunities for Utah companies, coal's role in a national energy strategy and international views on fusion energy.Scheduled speakers include Dr. S. Fred Singer, a speaker on energy and environmental issues; Ben J. Wattenberg, American Enterprise Institute in Washington, D.C.; Stephen M. Studdert, former senior adviser to President Bush and chairman of The Studdert Group Ltd.; Jon M. Huntsman Jr., deputy assistant secretary of commerce for East Asia and the Pacific.

Also, George Rudins, U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Fossil Energy; Dr. James J. Brophy, U. vice president for research; Dr. Magnus Jandel, physicist at the Manne Siegbahn Institute of Physics in Stockholm, Sweden; and Dr. Hideo Ikegami, chairman and project leader of cold-fusion research at the National Institute for Fusion Science in Japan.
