After one night in Butte, the Salt Lake Trappers' six-game winning streak is gone and so is their lead in the Pioneer League Southern Division.

Butte pinned a 15-2 win on the Trappers Saturday night at Alumni Coliseum, tying them for the division lead. The five-game series - three games in Butte, two games in Salt Lake - continues tonight.Saturday's result was not quite as bad as it may appear, considering the Copper Kings scored seven runs in the eighth inning. Then again, Butte outhit the Trappers 20-4 and was in command after the third inning. Shortstop Jon Shave led the Butte attack with four hits.

The Trappers' last chance to stay close came in the third when they scored a run to cut the lead to 3-2 and loaded the bases with two outs. Brian Kelly popped up to the end inning and the Traps collected only one hit the rest of the way.

Butte, meanwhile, was doing a number on Salt Lake starter Gino Mirabella (4-3). Mirabella lasted into the fourth inning before he was replaced by Randy white, who had to leave after being struck on the leg by a batted ball. Dave Alexander pitched fairly well until the eighth, when he was tagged for Butte's seven runs.
