Duane Jones Erickson, 89, of Monroe, died July 21, 1990 in a Provo hospital.
He was born July 17, 1901 in Monroe, Utah to Fernando and Katharine Jones Erickson. Married Lenna Thurber October 26, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She died June 14, 1985. Duane owned and operated his own farm and ranch and lived all of his life in Monroe. Duane was the last Erickson to reside in Monroe since his father came Monroe around 1880; however, his maternal grandfather, Walter Jones, was one of the first settlers of the community in 1864. Duane was dedicated to his family, and was always available to support and assist any member in need. He spent his life developing his farmland into a successful farming and feeding operation. His dedication to hard work and his accomplishments are a source of pride to his family. He gave more to this world than he took or used.Survived by one son, Michael C. and his wife, Sue Erickson, American Fork; four grandchildren; Stacie E. Cameron, American Fork; Cathy Anderson, Orem; Douglas Erickson, Darrell Erickson, both St. George; four great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Vern (Melba) Mortensen, Richfield; brother-in-law, sister-in-law, Dick and Ruby Oldroyd, Monroe; preceded in death by a son, David T. Erickson, his parents and two brothers, Leonard Erickson and Ferdinand Erickson and four sisters, Kate Dorrity, Ethel Carman, Alta Magleby and Verna Olsen.
Funeral services Thursday, July 26, 1990 at 1 p.m. in the Monroe 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 140 South Main St., where friends may call Thursday morning from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial: Monroe City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Neal S. Magleby and Sons Mortuary.
