People walk through shapes that appeared in a cornfield at the Vale of Pewsey, Wiltshire, England, last week. Using $1.8 million worth of heat-seeking cameras, photographers and engineers from the United States, Japan, West Germany and Britain will be watching fields in Wiltshire for the next three weeks. They will try to capture on film whatever it is that flattens the crops. The circles, which have been recorded since 1678, have been attributed to whirlwinds, witches, magnetic forces, animals, hoaxers and spaceships.
