The Washington Times has been losing $35 million a year and the deficit is being covered by the Unification Church, The Washington Post reported Friday.

The Post quoted Bo Hi Pak, a deputy to the church's founder, the Rev. Sun Myung Moon, from an interview in Seoul, South Korea.Pak said the church and its subsidiaries are "very glad to subsidize" the Times because it contributes to world peace.

He estimated losses at $250 million since the newspaper started publishing eight years ago.
