SHARE STRING CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL CELEBRATES ITS 7TH YEAR AUG. 3-11

The seventh annual String Chamber Music Festival at Snowbird will be sponsored by the Snowbird Institute of Arts and Humanities, Aug. 3-11, 1990. At that time the Muir String Quartet will be in residence, along with violinist Andres Cardenes and Mikhail Boguslavsky, violist.

Performances during the festival will include two concerts by the Muir Quartet. Highlighting their opening program on Aug. 3 will be a new piece by John Goodman, commissioned by the Snowbird Institute. (Goodman will be in residence at Snowbird July 28-Aug. 11.) On Aug. 10 the Quartet will be joined by pianist David Deveau. Violinist Andres Cardenes will play an all-Beethoven concert with Deveau on Aug. 4, and the Ataria Quartet will perform on Aug. 11. All concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Golden Cliff Room, Cliff Lodge at Snowbird, and tickets are $8.Snowbird Institute will host Ataria, one of the nation's emerging string quartets, July 28-Aug. 11, during which time the Muir Quartet will serve as mentors to Ataria, in practical and musical matters.

The festival also includes a workshop, wherein six amateur string quartets will be coached by members of the Muir String Quartet, Cardenes and Boguslavsky, as well as attending master classes, lecture demonstrations and performances. Workshop observers will be welcome, free of charge.
