Nobel laureate Mother Teresa has apparently sent a telegram urging Gov. Buddy Roemer to sign what would become the nation's toughest anti-abortion law, adminstration officials said Monday.

Roemer has vowed to veto the bill passed in the Legislature last week because it does not contain exceptions for rape and incest. The only exception contained in the legislation would be if a woman's life was threatened by the pregnancy. The governor's office confirmed it had received a telegram apparently from the 1979 Nobel Peace Prize winner and said Roemer would weigh that request along with others from the anti-abortion movement before vetoing the bill.
