Carpetowne's upsets of Page Brake and previously unbeaten Miller Toyota highlighted Cottonwood Travel League fastpitch softball play last week.

Kevin Jenson's two-run triple sparked Carpetowne's 4-2 defeat of Page and Steve Giesler's six scoreless innings of relief work keyed the 1-0 win over Miller Toyota. Miller's Peter Meredith struck out 19 in seven innings and allowed only one hit, but Gary Cleverly reached on an error and scored on Doug Stoddard's single in the third inning. In other games, Doug Sorenson and Mat Bradshaw each had three RBI in Miller Chevrolet's 8-1 win over Page 21; Alan Hoyne's infield single brought home Bryan Hansen in Page Brake's 3-2, 11-inning defeat of the Sultans; and Brendan Keehan had 10 strikeouts in Miller Toyota's 6-0 blanking of Page 21.

No league games are scheduled until July 17. Instead, two Pioneer Days tournaments will be staged. The Class A tournament runs Friday through Sunday and the major tournament is July 13-15 at the Cottonwood Complex.
