A Midvale man was to be released from the hospital Tuesday after being treated for six days for injuries he received when a 300-pound boulder fell on him.

Carl E. Cole, a geologist for the Army Corp of Engineers, was working June 27 inside a tunnel being constructed on I-80 about one mile east of U-65 in Parleys Canyon. While he was about 1,500 feet inside the tunnel, a 300-pound boulder fell on top of him and struck him in the head and back, Salt Lake County deputy sheriffs said.
