SHARE MAN’S GUNSHOT DEATH CALLED SUICIDE

Salt Lake police are handling the Tuesday shooting death of a Salt Lake man as an apparent suicide.

Police Lt. Dick Johnson said police were called to a residence on Bryan Street near Main Street about 3:45 p.m. to investigate a shooting.Johnson said the unidentified man apparently shot himself in the head in the presence of his mother and girlfriend.

The man was taken to LDS Hospital where he was pronounced dead about an hour later.

The body has been turned over to the state medical examiner for an autopsy.

"The gun was in the man's hand when it discharged and we are treating it as a suicide," Johnson said.
