Leona Murray, age 76, died July 4, 1990 in St. George of cancer.
She was born February 16, 1914 in Salt Lake City to Charles LeRoy and Mary Cecelia Burke Kelly. She lived in Salt Lake City and attended schools there. She married Fred Murray, September 22, 1960 in Elko, Nevada; together they traveled throughout the U.S. until bad health limited travel. They moved to Washington, Utah in 1983. Leona enjoyed writing; she wrote poetry and at different times worked as a newspaper correspondent. She volunteer in the Four Corners Mental Health Program. She spent a lot of time doing handiwork. She was a member of the St. George Catholic Church.Survived by husband, Fred, Washington, Utah; a son by a previous marriage, Dan McCann and his wife, Carolyn, Salt Lake City; two grandsons, Steven and Brian McCann, Salt Lake City; one brother, James Kelly, Long Beach, California.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday July 7, 1990 at 10 a.m. in the St. George Catholic Church. Friends may call Friday evening from 7-8 p.m. at the Spilsbury Desert Rose Memorial Chapel, 58 No. 100 East, St. George, Utah. Interment: Washington City Cemetery.
